Steve Béga

At the heart of his practice is a simple idea: creating things that help people see, experience and love places differently.

Born and bred in Southampton, Steve Béga is a multidisciplinary creative working across public art, photography, moving image, design and print. His practice is driven by a fascination with people and place, from capturing the character of everyday spaces through a lens to developing physical interventions that encourage people to use, enjoy and feel more connected to the places they share.

Influenced by skateboarding and its relationship with the built environment, Steve has developed a legacy of projects with Skate Southampton and has been privileged to work closely with John Hansard Gallery across numerous creative and public-facing projects. Recent work includes Scribble, #ReshapingTheSquare and the Hoglands Skate Landscape redevelopment.

Steve feels privileged to be part of ZEST Collective and given the opportunity to learn from other creatives, share ideas and help push art forward in the city he calls home.
