Luke Hamerton

A glitch is the most puzzling, difficult to define and enchanting noise artifact; it reveals itself to perception as accident, chaos or laceration and gives a glimpse into normally obfuscated machine language.

Luke Hamerton is an abstract artist based in Hampshire, UK. He practices Glitch Art, the process of deliberately altering computer files to trigger visual and audio glitches. Throughout his artistic career he has worked under the monikers LH Art and most recently, Lucid Harmonics.

Southampton born and raised, Luke studied his MA in Visual Communication at Solent University, through his academic pursuits he developed an interest in the aesthetics of the 2000s particularly those associated with technology and the early days of the internet.

He utilises vintage computer programs to create his artwork, capturing the advancements in technology born from the new millennia. He is currently most known for his use of the 3D modelling software Bryce3D.

Luke utilises glitches to capture human memory and their fragile nature, glitches themselves signify the final breaths of digital life, the moment before ruin and the end point before the system is reboot.
