L. Gre

Sonic meeting points shaped by memory and care

L. Gre (they/them) is a Southampton-based composer, sound artist, researcher and vocalist from Omaha, Nebraska. Gre works across sound, installation, digital media and film. Their practice follows stories held in Black and Indigenous traditions and moves through listening, memory and collective presence. They work with Endarkened Co-Composition, a method they developed that centres shared storytelling, informal exchange and non-linear processes to shape sonic work. Their installations and performances explore power, care, opacity and the negotiations of hierarchy that sit within collaborative making.

Gre uses sound, voice, field recordings, graphic scores, photoscores, soil, stone, fibre optics and textiles to build environments where stories guide form. Their work traces how people hold memory across place and how sound shapes encounters between body, land and history. This approach drives projects that span performance, research and interdisciplinary collaborations.
