investigative and playful

James is multidisciplinary artist, predominantly working with sound, sculpture and installation. Taking freely from the real world of people and objects, James makes work that responds to place and people. His work is sometimes investigative in nature and at others playful and provocative, as he seeks to uncover relationships and boundaries that we place on ourselves as part of society. 

James lacks a formal arts education, having studied Mandarin at University, but instead draws on his varied experience in radio, theatre, music and hospitality to approach subjects from another perspective.
