A story of deep time and deep futures

Anna Marris is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in traditional and contemporary printmaking and extending into sculpture and installation to test the potentials of research-based creative practice.

Anna graduated from BA Fine Art at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton in 2021, where she explored connections in art, science, and technology. In 2023, Anna graduated from MA Print at the Royal College of Art, during which she investigated the role of creative intervention to address complex issues entangled in the representation of resource extraction in imagery and archives.

Anna’s practice attends to scientific data and imaging technologies, from satellite viewpoints and microscopic observations of the land to archaeological imaging techniques. Anna translates primary imagery or publicly available data into surreal landscapes, abstracted forms, and surface textures to tell a story of deep time and deep futures at the core of a planet subjected to exploitative human activity. Interconnecting fiction with print encourages Anna to listen and engage with urgent ecological issues through collaborative encounters across art, science, and technology.
